Part 4: Pregnancies, jobs and lifestyles
Detroit, Michigan, a city where I worked for 15 years, presents a mirror of Black communities around America. African-Americans in 1990 made up 67 percent of the total population. In the past 15 years, 300,000 Muslim immigrants moved into the Detroit area with tens of thousands being illegal. In the process, they pushed African-Americans out of their communities.
At the same time, immigrants took jobs from American Blacks at alarming rates of speed. Immigrants undercut Blacks in auto work, janitorial, fast food, construction, taxi cab service, grounds keeping and just about every job in Detroit formerly worked by American Blacks.
Last year, NBC anchor Brian Williams reported a 76 percent dropout rate for Detroit high schools. At first, that number seems impossible, but educational disintegration began with adding a dozen languages to Detroit’s classrooms, i.e., Arabic, Spanish, and many more dialects alien to America. With the linguistic chaos came ethnic tension. Without a single language and small classroom size, American Blacks in Detroit and across the nation suffered increasing academic failure.
In Los Angeles, unlawful immigrants’ kids commandeered classrooms into learning centers for Spanish speaking only at the gross neglect of American Blacks. Numerous ‘race riots’ resulted, but the main stream media neglected to cover them or named them ‘incidents’. Today, LA high schools see cops on every corridor of high schools and most Americans that can afford it, send their kids to private schools.

He roars, “If you ain’t mad, you ain’t payin’ attention!” He exposes how Mexicans kill Blacks, take over the schools, take the jobs, trash the neighborhoods and run Blacks out of LA. Pretty scary stuff but happening today!
What happens when kids do not receive an education at the most basic high school level? How do they function at a functionally illiterate level?
Black women have the highest teen pregnancy rate (134 per 1,000 women aged 15-19) in America. I think latest statistics show unwed Black mothers outnumber married Black mothers.
They immediately become welfare queens with 1,2,3,4, 5 and more babies. In Detroit, I watched them step through the Kroger doors with five kids lined up hand in hand with one on the way. After I had worked a 14 hour day, they used my money via food stamps to feed their broods. Didn’t make me happy!
As for Black Americans:
Dwight Kirk of Coalition of Black Trade Unionists said, “The black unemployment rate jumped or leaped or bounced – whatever verb fits – from 10.8 percent in May to 11.8 percent in June -- more than 3 times the increase in the national rate. Bottom line: as the jobless crisis has gotten worse for all workers, the heaviest toll has been on black workers, millions who are becoming nomads in a globalized job market. The June unemployment report contained even more eye-opening “news”:
• Nearly half of the 360,000 people who lost their jobs in June were African Americans, even though black workers are only 11 percent of the civilian workforce.
• Black workers suffered the highest job loss (172,000) of all races or ethnic groups in June.
• While white unemployment inched up from 5.4 percent in May to 5.5 percent in June, black unemployment, already in double digits, soared from 10.8 percent to 11.8 percent in the same month (i.e., 10 times the increase in the white unemployment rate).
• Meanwhile, 40 percent of black teenagers were unemployed in June, nearly 2 times the rate for white teens.
The long-term trends are even more daunting. In the year since June 2002:
• The number of unemployed black workers has increased by nearly a quarter of a million (214,000).
• The black unemployment rate has increased four times faster than the rate for white workers (1.2 percent versus .3 percent, respectively).
• Black teenage unemployment has risen from 30 percent to 40 percent in just one year (in what economists call a jobless economic recovery).
Dirk said, “This statistical snapshot is a timely wake-up call about several important trends:
(1)The current unemployment crisis is having a profoundly unequal impact on different segments of the workforce.
(2) The job crisis is accelerating in the African American community.
(3) Because of the sharp and substantial increase in black unemployment, the jobless disparity between black and white workers is growing significantly.
Nonetheless, our U.S. Congress pumps an added 138,000 new immigrants into this country every month. Again, it allows another 100,000 to enter the job market unlawfully as illegal aliens each month. Those immigrants cost, according to the Edwin Rubenstein report: $346 billion annually across 15 federal agencies every year.
Imagine what that money could do for Black America!
I find it peculiar that our new Black President Obama rolls along like our former White presidents with his ignoring our borders, our jobs and our communities being overrun by illegal alien migrants. While Black America suffers in the unemployment lines, White America finds itself in similar circumstances. In excess of 15 million Americans cannot find a job and 32.2 million Americans subsist on food stamps! That’s horrifically crazy to be happening in America!
At what point will Obama and Congress turn off the flood spigot? At what point will they enforce our laws and represent Black and White American citizens rather than wholesale corruption being carried on by every employer of illegal aliens—all 20 million of them and more?!
What’s going on right now is downright sickening to all Americans!

ADVENTURE: A BLANK SPACE ON A MOUNTAIN AWAITING A MARMOT’S WORDS: WELCOME TO MY WORLD July 2009

Verdant green lodge pole pines blanket the Mount Holy Cross Wilderness region. A cobalt sky profiles rolling mountain tundra while gray rock peaks push against the universe. In the valleys, snow-fed sparkling rivers cascade over boulders, while wildlife munches, stalks or chirps its way through the dark forests “too silent to be real.” In that wilderness, the “circle of life” maintains a certain perfection known only to those who dare enter that wild kingdom.
Driving along a dusty mountain road, my friend Al and I crossed over a frisky river leading into a quiet canyon. We followed that river for a half dozen miles before stopping at a trailhead.
“This is it,” I said. “Turn into that spot and let’s get moving before that sun sets any further.”
“Beautiful flowers,” Al said, pointing to a group of red Paint Brush.
We hoisted the packs onto our backs and stepped onto the rocky trail. Ahead of us, aspens, pines and wildflowers sparkled in the late afternoon sunshine. The trail, filled with tree roots and gray rock, climbed steeply.
A sign read, “Welcome to Mount Holy Cross Wilderness.” Up we sped on our determined path toward the “Walden Pond” of the Rockies. The trail cut through pines and then, it cut through trembling aspens. Soon, it sliced through a meadow filled with white, red, pink, yellow, purple and orange wildflowers. We walked waist deep through one cut of flowers and deep vegetation. Purple bell shaped flowers reached four feet, but didn’t give off any scent. However, all the flowers together wafted a delightful perfume across our nostrils.
To our right, a large meadow exploded with yellow, white and red flowers. But of course, the trail climbed steeply through them. We labored, took a short break and watched the changling sky shift from sunlight to deep blue with golden clouds being tinged by the setting sun.
“Need to get our butts in gear,” I said. “The darkness will be hitting within 45 minutes.”
“I’m with you,” Al said, grabbing a last swing of his water bottle.
We climbed from 8,500 feet toward our 11,000 foot base camp. The trail steepened again, but our determined efforts made great time as we raced the sunset to our destination. Up, up we climbed to a beautiful, almost magical white water stream tumbling over rocks and trees in front of us. Its white music played through the evening air. Deliciously intoxicating!
After crossing the stream, we headed along a ridge until we reached heavy rock formations and a last stand of thick aspen. Inside the aspen, four foot high white, pie-faced flowers covered the forest floor like someone threw a thousand white Frisbees at a four foot level. Every once in awhile, a purple flower shot up into the field of white flowers, but the aspen trunks dominated while green grass outlined every part of the woods.
Still higher, we hiked into deep forest pines, big rocks and fallen trees. A few squirrels chattered at us as we passed by them. Overhead, a lazy hawk soared into the last gleaming rays of the sun. The sky turned radiant blue with silver-gold clouds skidding across the heavens on the final chapter of the day’s story.
“I smell the lake,” I said. “I think we might beat the darkness to Magic Lake.”
“I’ve got my minor’s lamp,” Al said. “So, I’m good to go.”
Another 20 minutes, we stepped over several dead logs until, up ahead, the last rays of light reflected off the glass still waters of Magic Lake. In front, a perfectly still surface mirrored the snowfields at 13,000 feet above the lake. Tall pines surrounded Magic Lake while they reflected their silence upon the water.
We stepped into a grassy spot near the shoreline.
“Oh my God,” Al said. “You weren’t kidding…this is amazing…so utterly beautiful.”
“Yup,” I said. “This place pulls my spirit to center.”
We pitched the tents, unrolled the air mattresses and opened the sleeping bags.
Of course, a fire made the perfect answer for the perfect day. Soon, the flames licked the night air as a slim stream of smoke curled into the pine canopy and on up toward the stars, now popping out, one by one.
Soon after, we cooked up a steaming hot pasta primavera. While we waited for our dinner, the night sounds dominated.
Have you ever sat by a camp fire,
When the wood has fallen low?
And the ambers start to whiten,
Around the fires crimson glow;
With the night sounds all around you
That makes silence doubly sweet;
And the full moon high above you,
That makes the spell complete;
Tell me were you ever nearer to the land of heart’s desire,
Than when you sat there thinking with your face toward the fire?
How does hot pasta primavera taste after a two hour 2,000 foot climb with 40 pound packs?
“Uhmm, good,” Al sighed. “Man, this is the answer!”
“Yup, well,” I said. “Wait till’ you taste my raspberry crumble.”
“Can’t wait,” Al said.
I cooked up the freeze-dried concoction and served it to Al after he finished his pasta.
“Talk about a perfect taste treat after a perfect day,” he said.
“You see that 13er reflecting off the lake?” I said. “You’ll need it to reach the summit.”
“I’m ready,” Al said.
We hit the sack as the Big Dipper, Orion, North Star and a million other twinkling galaxies spanned the ink black of space above us.
Next morning!
Al unzipped his tent to see the still glass smooth waters of “Magic Lake.”
“It doesn’t get any better than this,” he said.
I crawled out of my tent, “You got that right!”
We gobbled oatmeal and apples for breakfast. Later, we tore down camp and hung our packs in the trees for animal protection. We carried all food with us plus water. We looked beyond the lake to the notched mountain peak in front of us.
“You game?” Al said.
“I’m with you, dude,” I said.
We hiked into the woods, not finding a trail, so we blazed our own. It climbed steadily upward until we crossed a small creek loaded with flowers and green grass. From there, we found a stash of purple columbine flowers.
Breaking out of the woods, we climbed toward a ridge that led toward the rocky peak ahead of us. A small trail allowed us to switchback to the ridge. Once there, we found ourselves engulfed with tiny mountain tundra flowers on our way into a rock field. Big ones, 50 tons, small ones, 10 tons and many others at five pounds. We picked our way through the rocks, and then, through snow fields, and back onto the scree.
Along the way, more flowers, lichens, butterflies and bees. Also, spider webs between rocks! Talk about positive attitude and expectation!
With every break in the rock fields, we hit a grassy area with thousands of pink, yellow, purple, white and red tundra flowers. All of them smaller than the head of a pin! Just amazing!
Upward we climbed, from rock to rock. We rested, then returned to the climb. We drank water, then returned to the climb. Step by step, hour after hour, we hammered toward the top. Around noon, we reached the summit of the notched mountain at 13,271 feet into the sky.
“Some folks left a small jar with a pencil and paper to sign your name,” Al said, handing me the jar.
“Can’t imagine too many people up here,” I said. “I’ll be darned! Quite a few folks reached top in July already!”
We signed it and sat down on top of our world. Around us, snow capped peaks dominated! Mt. Massive, Elbert, the collegiates, Gore Range, Capitol and thousands of peaks poked their jagged summits toward a raging blue sky. We ate, drank and talked about the climb. We filled that blank space with a story that never would have been told unless we packed into the wilderness.
John Muir said, “Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity; and that mountain parks and reservations are fountains of life.” 1898
To mountain climbers, we fill in the blank spaces of unappreciated flowers or blazing sunsets. We herald the rising sun full of expectations. On the climb up, a marmot stood up, looked at us and said, “Welcome to my world.” Later, a pika squeaked his language and scurried back into his hole. Above us, hawks soared on thermals for the pure joy of a day of flying. As climbers, we become part of the wildness of the wilderness. We step into the dream, the fantasy and the reality. We make a story where none existed other than the indolent apathy of the universe to our presence.
While summiting a mountain creates tremendous satisfaction, we must all come down from that peak. We must slip back into the mainstream of our lives.
Al and I moved back down through the rock fields, past the flowers, into the snow fields, past the tundra, into the woods, down the steep embankments and soon, we reached “Magic Lake.”
“I’m so sweaty, I’ve got to jump in,” I said.
“Here’s the perfect spot,” Al said.
I stripped and dove into the ice cold, snow fed waters of “Magic Lake.”
“Yeeehiiii,” I screamed. “Not too bad!”
Around me, I saw two pound trout swimming past! Steller jays watched from the trees. Squirrels chattered like machine guns. Dragon flies danced in the air.
Later, we slung the packs back onto our shoulders for the hike back down the mountain. With one last look back at “Magic Lake”, we headed into the wilderness for another two hours.
At the bottom, a little weary and thoroughly filled with visual and spiritual joy, we looked back at the high peaks we summitted. Now, we share our story and we created a story where non existed until we stepped into the wilderness. For those that sally forth into the rough country, good tidings and spiritual bliss.
As my dear friend John Muir said, “How deep our sleep last night in the mountain’s heart, beneath the trees and stars, hushed by solemn-sounding waterfalls and many small soothing voices in sweet accord whispering peace! And our first pure mountain day, warm, calm, cloudless,--how immeasurable it seems, how serenely wild! I can remember its beginning. Along the river, over the hills, in the ground, in the sky, spring work is going on with joyful enthusiasm, new life, new beauty, unfolding, unrolling in glorious exuberant extravagance,--new birds in their nests, new winged creatures in the air, and new leaves, new flowers, spreading, shining, rejoicing everywhere.”

Once there, we found ourselves engulfed with tiny mountain tundra flowers on our way into a rock field. Big ones, 50 tons, small ones, 10 tons and many others at five pounds. We picked our way through the rocks, and then, through snow fields, and back onto the scree.
Along the way, more flowers, lichens, butterflies and bees. Also, spider webs between rocks! Talk about positive attitude and expectation!
With every break in the rock fields, we hit a grassy area with thousands of pink, yellow, purple, white and red tundra flowers. All of them smaller than the head of a pin! Just amazing!
Upward we climbed, from rock to rock. We rested, then returned to the climb. We drank water, then returned to the climb. Step by step, hour after hour, we hammered toward the top. Around noon, we reached the summit of the notched mountain at 13,271 feet into the sky.
“Some folks left a small jar with a pencil and paper to sign your name,” Al said, handing me the jar.
“Can’t imagine too many people up here,” I said. “I’ll be darned! Quite a few folks reached top in July already!”
We signed it and sat down on top of our world. Around us, snow capped peaks dominated! Mt. Massive, Elbert, the collegiates, Gore Range, Capitol and thousands of peaks poked their jagged summits toward a raging blue sky. We ate, drank and talked about the climb. We filled that blank space with a story that never would have been told unless we packed into the wilderness.
John Muir said, “Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity; and that mountain parks and reservations are fountains of life.” 1898
To mountain climbers, we fill in the blank spaces of unappreciated flowers or blazing sunsets. We herald the rising sun full of expectations. On the climb up, a marmot stood up, looked at us and said, “Welcome to my world.” Later, a pika squeaked his language and scurried back into his hole. Above us, hawks soared on thermals for the pure joy of a day of flying. As climbers, we become part of the wildness of the wilderness. We step into the dream, the fantasy and the reality. We make a story where none existed other than the indolent apathy of the universe to our presence.
While summiting a mountain creates tremendous satisfaction, we must all come down from that peak. We must slip back into the mainstream of our lives.
Al and I moved back down through the rock fields, past the flowers, into the snow fields, past the tundra, into the woods, down the steep embankments and soon, we reached “Magic Lake.”
“I’m so sweaty, I’ve got to jump in,” I said.
“Here’s the perfect spot,” Al said.
I stripped and dove into the ice cold, snow fed waters of “Magic Lake.”
“Yeeehiiii,” I screamed. “Not too bad!”
Around me, I saw two pound trout swimming past! Steller jays watched from the trees. Squirrels chattered like machine guns. Dragon flies danced in the air.
Later, we slung the packs back onto our shoulders for the hike back down the mountain. With one last look back at “Magic Lake”, we headed into the wilderness for another two hours.
At the bottom, a little weary and thoroughly filled with visual and spiritual joy, we looked back at the high peaks we summitted. Now, we share our story and we created a story where non existed until we stepped into the wilderness. For those that sally forth into the rough country, good tidings and spiritual bliss.
As my dear friend John Muir said, “How deep our sleep last night in the mountain’s heart, beneath the trees and stars, hushed by solemn-sounding waterfalls and many small soothing voices in sweet accord whispering peace! And our first pure mountain day, warm, calm, cloudless,--how immeasurable it seems, how serenely wild! I can remember its beginning. Along the river, over the hills, in the ground, in the sky, spring work is going on with joyful enthusiasm, new life, new beauty, unfolding, unrolling in glorious exuberant extravagance,--new birds in their nests, new winged creatures in the air, and new leaves, new flowers, spreading, shining, rejoicing everywhere.”

America's Energy Future Walks a Thin Line

Denver, Colorado--This past weekend, I watched thousands of riders travel to the famed Sturgis motorcycle rally in South Dakota. At one gas station, they piled in line with over 30 bikers waiting to pump gas into their cycles. Over 400,000 motorcycle riders attend the rally annually. Bikes outnumber cars 100 to 1.

Each day, Americans burn a whopping 20 million barrels of oil. We import 12 million out of that 20 million. On top of that, the entire world of humans burns 82 million barrels of oil every day! To give you an idea of how much oil we burn daily, if you take an oil drum, it measures 20 inches in diameter at the base. If you multiply 82 million times 20 inches, (place 82 million drums side by side), it equals a belt of oil stretching 25,000 miles around the Earth at the equator. We fill them up every day, burn them down and fill them up again to burn them down again. Since it remains a finite resource, how much longer can we burn that much oil at that rate? Answer: not much longer!
How much oil do we burn annually worldwide? If you take 82 million barrels, (that’s 42 gallons to a drum), burned daily—it adds up to a cubic mile of oil annually. It exceeds 29.9 billion barrels of oil annually, year in and year out, decade in and decade out.
In order to drive cars, boats, planes and fuel industry, Americans use 20 million barrels of oil daily while the rest of the world burns 62 million barrels.
If you remember your science, it took two billion years to produce all the oil on this planet. In other words, when oil reserves decline, we exhaust the single major energy source that drives our civilization and most other societies on this planet.
To show how much energy oil provides the U.S. annually, Michael Brownlee of www.transitionbouldercounty.com provided an astounding graph of one cubic mile of oil. That’s how much oil the world burns each year! That equals the same amount of energy provided by 52 nuclear power plants built every year for 50 years or 104 operating coal-fired electrical plants built every year for 50 years or 32,000 wind turbines built every year for 50 years—and in continuous operation—or 91,250,000 solar panels built every year for 50 years.
In other words, oil produces dramatically incredible amounts of energy that we cannot and will not be able to duplicate in the coming years.

As we both know there is no way that alternative energy sources can supply the amount of per capita energy we enjoy now, much less for the 9 billion expected by 2050. Part 3: Drugs, unwed mothers, crime, prison
This series on American Blacks and immigration created a firestorm of comments from liberals and conservatives! Readers filled my inbox with their responses! Nice that 99 percent of those responses commiserated with Black Americans and their plight with unlawful immigration and unlawful workers taking away jobs!
“Finally! Someone is addressing the mayhem caused to African-Americans,” Debra said. “Why aren’t black Americans speaking out? Why don’t they say something on their own behalf?”
Another reader said, “Immigration WILL put all blacks out of work. Period! Riots are next!”
A Black American Robert said, “The pressure being brought upon Black Americans is tremendous. How can those in congress not expect an explosion from Black America, much like, if not worse than, what occurred during the 60's?”
“I thoroughly agree with you about sending ‘our’ money overseas to take care of everyone else,” Caroline said. “It is outrageous and insane. However, if blacks, and whites too, for that matter, would stop having illegitimate children they can’t support, that would certainly reduce the child poverty we have here in the US. Just makes me mad as heck to watch all of this and to have to help pay for it, too. Now I am 72 years old and still working so I can buy food and put gas in my car.”
AMERICAN BLACKS ON THE SUBJECT OF DRUGS
Liberal publisher Arianna Huffington said, "It is really stunning that only 15 percent of the total drug population -- drug offending population is African-American. And yet you have 74 percent of them who wind up in jail."
An independent study said her 74 percent ran too high. “To verify her number, we turned to “Prisoners in 2007,” a report by the Bureau of Justice Statistics, which is the statistical arm of the U.S. Department of Justice. That report offered estimated figures for offenders sentenced to state prison for drug violations: 113,500 blacks, 72,300 whites and 51,100 Hispanics. On a percentage basis, this means that 29 percent of inmates for drug offenses were white, 20 percent were Hispanic and 45 percent were black.”
In raw numbers, those figures calculate into millions of lives destroyed beyond drug use. Think jobs, families, kids, food stamps, living conditions, inner-city poverty. Ironically, the two most deadly drugs in America, tobacco and alcohol, kill more people and cause more social problems than all the 10 major illegal drugs combined—times millions!

Today, out of 2.3 million prisoners in local, state and federal lockups, Black Americans make up 46 percent while they make up 13 percent of U.S. population. That equates to nearly one million men or 1 in 13 American Blacks sitting in a prison cell. We see a terrible if not heinous wrong evident in those figures! I think General Colin Powell said, “It is better to build a good man rather than try to rehabilitate a broken one.”
How did they arrive at that circumstance?
Today, race continues as a dividing line in America more than anyone cares to admit or discuss. We may cheer black and white athletes on our teams, but when the game finishes, we go back to our own segregated neighborhoods. While we work side by side in limitless jobs and show forbearance, we gather with our own ethnic groups at lunch or in restaurants. The latest incident with Professor Gates, Officer Crowley and President Obama illustrates the razor-sharp edge we walk upon in race relations.
The question remains, since American Blacks suffer subtle and overt racism, not only from whites but Mexicans and other racial groups, also a decline in the educational arena, and find themselves at the bottom rung of the financial ladder, where do they turn in great numbers?
Drugs, Rap Music and crime! If you listen to “Rap Music”, you hear self-loathing lyrics, women as ‘hoes and ‘*iches’ and all matter of self-deprecatory concepts. It’s better NOT to perform academically in high school for fear of becoming like “whitey.” A segment on a recent “60 Minutes” exposed anti-educational sentiments by inner-city Blacks. With such a self-defeating cultural paradigm, millions of black teen girls become unwed mothers living off welfare payments, food stamps, medical care and extreme poverty. That brings me to Part 4: Black teen pregnancies.
The further I write into this series, I find myself unable to grapple with the plight of Black America. It grows worse, not better. It’s incomprehensible to most Americans. With our U.S. Congress totally insulated and isolated from it from their plush offices, I can see why they don’t have a clue as to the breadth and depth of this national nightmare for American Blacks.
My question: with the enormous crisis facing Black Americans in this deepening spiral into the pit of the American Nightmare—why does Congress continue unending and relentless immigration at 2.4 million annually costing U.S. taxpayers $346 billion annually to pay for all those foreigners—when our own citizens languish in crisis?
Why aren’t more Black Congressional reps outraged? Why aren’t they speaking up? Why won’t they defend Black America? You won’t hear one Black Senator speak out and not one Black House member stand up? Why?

This series on American Blacks and immigration created a firestorm of comments from liberals and conservatives! Readers filled my inbox with their responses! Nice that 99 percent of those responses commiserated with Black Americans and their plight with unlawful immigration and unlawful workers taking away jobs!
“Finally! Someone is addressing the mayhem caused to African-Americans,” Debra said. “Why aren’t black Americans speaking out? Why don’t they say something on their own behalf?”
Another reader said, “Immigration WILL put all blacks out of work. Period! Riots are next!”
A Black American Robert said, “The pressure being brought upon Black Americans is tremendous. How can those in congress not expect an explosion from Black America, much like, if not worse than, what occurred during the 60's?”
“I thoroughly agree with you about sending ‘our’ money overseas to take care of everyone else,” Caroline said. “It is outrageous and insane. However, if blacks, and whites too, for that matter, would stop having illegitimate children they can’t support, that would certainly reduce the child poverty we have here in the US. Just makes me mad as heck to watch all of this and to have to help pay for it, too. Now I am 72 years old and still working so I can buy food and put gas in my car.”
AMERICAN BLACKS ON THE SUBJECT OF DRUGS
Liberal publisher Arianna Huffington said, "It is really stunning that only 15 percent of the total drug population -- drug offending population is African-American. And yet you have 74 percent of them who wind up in jail."
An independent study said her 74 percent ran too high. “To verify her number, we turned to “Prisoners in 2007,” a report by the Bureau of Justice Statistics, which is the statistical arm of the U.S. Department of Justice. That report offered estimated figures for offenders sentenced to state prison for drug violations: 113,500 blacks, 72,300 whites and 51,100 Hispanics. On a percentage basis, this means that 29 percent of inmates for drug offenses were white, 20 percent were Hispanic and 45 percent were black.”
In raw numbers, those figures calculate into millions of lives destroyed beyond drug use. Think jobs, families, kids, food stamps, living conditions, inner-city poverty. Ironically, the two most deadly drugs in America, tobacco and alcohol, kill more people and cause more social problems than all the 10 major illegal drugs combined—times millions!

Part 2: Mass Immigration Decimating Black America

Part 2: Social, housing, Medical implications for Blacks.
Black America struggles under a plethora of challenges including unemployment, child poverty, hunger, domestic violence, substandard schools, cyclical teen pregnancies, drugs, massive welfare and inordinate prison populations.
However, our Congressional leaders prove un-serious about solving Black America’s dilemma. Instead, they spend billions on citizens of other countries, while they relegate our citizens to spiraling despair.
A recent article, Foreign Aid: Good or Bad, said, “The United States gives out $13.3 billion tax dollars in direct Foreign Aid annually. The United States is above and beyond the single most generous benefactor of the United Nations, donating $2.4 billion dollars of YOUR money, to primarily third-world dictators. This amount is 25 percent of the United Nations budget. In addition, the United States also gives another $1.4 billion tax dollars to United Nations' programs and agencies. The American taxpayers fund more for the United Nations than all of the other 177 member nations combined.”
In other words, U.S. taxpayers, including American Black taxpayers, fund citizens of other countries at the expense of America’s poor citizens. That makes about as much sense as sending food to children in another country while your own children starve in your own home. A recent report showed that 13 million American children live under the poverty line.
At some point, all countries of the world must become responsible and accountable for feeding, housing and caring for their own populations. How much longer can the USA babysit the third world with food, medicine and humanitarian aid—especially with those countries adding 77 million more people annually?
According to Census tables, “The percentage of African-Americans living below the poverty level was 33.4 percent (10.8 million) in 1992, the year Clinton was first elected president. By 2000, the year Bush was elected, that figure had dropped to 22.5 percent (7.9 million) – a decrease of 10.9 percent. From 2000, however, the Black poverty increased from 22.5 percent to 23.9 percent in 2002 and 24.3 percent in 2003 (9.1 million).”
Those numbers fail to present the ramifications of such poverty on the personal level. TV icon Oprah Winfrey covers the human drama by bringing individuals into the spot light. She started schools for youngsters in Africa when Blacks in America need more help in their own country.
As a teacher in the inner-city with classes comprised of 95 percent Blacks, I experienced Black America’s dilemma firsthand. As an enthusiastic educator, I roared into my classrooms with excitement, knowledge and a fiery passion to teach. Within three years, the conditions in the inner-city pinned my ears back.
BASIC PROBLEM IN BLACK GHETTOS
Fathers with poor paying jobs or without jobs become frustrated, abusive and lost. They lash out at their wives and kids. If a couple births four or five kids, the situation compounds with crying, diapers, hungry kids, screaming and unhappy children that lack personal attention. Once the cycle starts, i.e., physical and verbal abuse, it ‘parent scripts’ onto the children. All kids along with their impressionable minds act like computers that ‘sponge’ every piece of data daily into their ‘hard drives’. When they hear, “You’re so smart, responsible and a hard worker…you’re the best kid in the world”, those children grow into healthy, academic and positive human beings. No matter what their academic level, they will prosper in life.
If they hear, “You’re nothing but a loser…you’re not good enough…you’re stupid….” they will replay that hard data into their adult lives. You see examples in the media with famous Black Americans who made tons of money, but suffered ‘parent scripts’ from the ghetto that kept playing in their heads such as O.J. Simpson, Snoop Dog, Whitney Houston, Bobby Brown and others. It also applies to all the white lives messed up by poor parent scripting, i.e., Heath Ledger, Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland and dozens more.
Politicians tell us we need better teachers. Wouldn’t it be better to concentrate on better, more educated and positive parents? Imagine the long range societal benefit of teaching effective parenting and how to find compatible marriage relationships as one of the most important aspects of high school curriculums. We need to foster high emotional quotient (EQ) that prepares children to become mature and balanced adults—emotionally, physically and academically.
Once children reflect negative imprinting from their parents or suffer negative imbalance from being raised by one parent—their world becomes aberrant and unhinged. They crave identity and appreciation. They will find it one way or the other. Some find it in sports and dream of becoming the next Shaq in the NBA. However, most find it quickly in gangs, drugs, sex and crime.
Without education and positive self-concept, as well as job discrimination—millions of American Blacks struggle for a sense confidence, of place and purpose.
For the past 20 years, mass immigration displaced Blacks from taxi cab jobs, janitorial services, delivery, fast food, construction, landscaping, moving jobs and more. Pelosi, Reid, and now Obama, augment 138,000 legal immigrants into America every 30 days—without societal responsibility. Combined with another 100,000 unlawful immigrant workers added monthly, American Blacks take a backseat in the economic, housing, educational and opportunity bus.
We need another Dr. Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks in 2009. It’s evident, by their actions, that Obama, Reid, Pelosi and the esteemed members of Congress will not stand for American Blacks. Actions DO speak louder than words! How about “Change” that benefits American Blacks!
With the loss of auto manufacturing, that situation, again, facilitated by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate majority leader Harry Reid in our Congress, it assured guillotine finality for Black American workers.
Remember, it’s not just Black America! A whopping 32.2 million Americans subsist on food stamps. A total of 15 million Americans cannot find jobs.
Their social status, dictated by their personal finances, remains grim. With it, a sense of despair grows. Inner-city education and housing continue to deteriorate. Medical care cannot be gained beyond Medicaid.
Education anchors the foundation of this republic. Without it, this nation cannot long maintain itself with a poorly educated citizenry. As I said earlier, Detroit, MI, 67 percent African-American population, suffered a 76 percent dropout rate last June according to NBC’s Brian Williams. That figure duplicates at 50 to 60 percent dropout rates in major cities across the USA. Williams stated that, “Around 1.2 million 18 year old youth hit the streets of America every June as dysfunctional illiterates.”
We cannot remain a first world nation if we fail to change those percentages toward success. In the final parts of this series, we will discuss more Black challenges.

Williams stated that, “Around 1.2 million 18 year old youth hit the streets of America every June as dysfunctional illiterates.”

Overpopulation in America: Mother Nature Always Bats Last

You bet I address the overpopulation issue in America! You won’t see one governor, senator or House leader speak about it. They avoid it at all costs. However, more voices join the chorus in 2009. We’re in more trouble than a henhouse with two foxes jumping through the windows!
The United States maintains the third fastest growth rate in the world behind China and India. They suffer with 1.3 and 1.1 billion people already, but add eight and 12 million respectively each year! The U.S. adds 3.4 million annually. Projections show the U.S. adding 100 million in 26 years. Stuff that into your entitlement bong and smoke it!
Yale Global, in a recent piece, said, “Demographic trends, often ignored by policymakers, are clearly linked with the US immigration policy. If Congress and the Obama administration plan to implement an effective immigration policy, they need to understand how, over time, it will affect the country’s population figure. As demographer Joseph Chamie notes, policy makers should start by asking how large should the US’ population be. Answering this question will determine what should be the rate of immigration since immigration has a significant multiplier effect on population growth. The US is currently the most populous developed nation in the world and at current rates, it could overtake the European Union by the end of the century. Indeed, immigration policy affects not only domestic issues like social security and health care, which can have international implications as a result of government debt levels, but also affects the use of resources and carbon emission linked with global climate change. Imagine how high the US emissions could grow if its population were to double while retaining the current per capita carbon footprint? Until such questions are answered, immigration is unlikely to abate.”
In a recent piece by Joseph Chamie, director of research at the Center for Migration Studies, “US Immigration Policy Likely to Boost Population” July 30, 2009, he said, “Growth-driven immigration policy risks bringing unfavorable socio-economic and environmental consequences. As the new US Administration and Congress begin to tackle immigration reform they will again be faced with the weighty question of how large should America’s population be in the future. Should America’s population continue to grow indefinitely, perhaps doubling to 600 million by the end of the century? Clearly, any answer to this vital demographic question has serious and far-reaching economic, political, social and environmental consequences for America as well as for the international community of nations.
“Some of America’s leading policymakers uncritically accept that an expanding population with increased immigration is good for America, ensuring its prosperity, power and harmonious relations with other nations with little if any adverse effects. Most others simply choose to ignore or equivocate on this fundamental demographic question, as has so often been done in past.”
Not one of them speaks about or addresses what it means to add 100 million people to the USA within 30 years! It’s unconscionable to be that smart and stupid at the same time. Do they represent college educated graduates or high school drop outs? One wonders!
“Leaders in the Senate and Administration will likely focus their attention on narrow aspects of immigration reform, as they did in the recent report of the Independent Task Force on US Immigration Policy, which – except for the paper it was printed on – ignored environmental implications of the policy,” said Chamie. “Decisions and policies on US immigration, including future levels, priorities, high-skilled migration and illegal immigration, effectively load the demographic dice for America’s future.
“Contrary to popular thought, the dominant force fueling America’s demographic growth is not natural increase, but immigration. This is because immigrants not only add their own numbers to the nation’s overall population, but also contribute a disproportionate number of births whose effects are compounded over time. A couple of examples help to illustrate this important point.”
Since the U.S. female averaged 2.03 children since 1970, it’s not our population causing hyper-population growth.
“The first example considers the contribution of immigration to America’s population growth since its founding in 1776,” Chamie said. “If international migration had ceased after the signing of the Declaration of Independence, America’s population would have likely been no more than 127 million today and perhaps closer to 100 million, far short of its current size of 307 million (Figure 1). Over this 233-year period, migration’s contribution (migrants and their descendents) is dominant, accounting for at least 60 percent of America’s population growth.
“The second example illustrates immigration’s impact on America’s population from a future perspective. By mid-century the US population is projected to reach 439 million, assuming current annual net migration of about 1.3 million increasing gradually to 2 million (Figure 2). However, if further immigration were to cease, the US population in 2050 would likely be about 100 million less, i.e., roughly 345 million. Again, the major force behind the future growth of America’s population, at least 70 percent in this instance, is the addition of immigrants and their descendants.”
Chamie said, “Immigration is also altering America’s ethnic composition and culture, i.e., less European and more Latin American, Asian and African. Throughout the 19th century and most of the 20th, the US foreign born population was predominately from European countries, e.g., Germany, Ireland, Italy and the United Kingdom. Today the top five countries are no longer of European origin but are Mexico, China, Philippines, India and Vietnam, with Mexico accounting for a third of the foreign born. As a result, America will increasingly look, sound and act differently over the coming decades – which is neither good nor bad but different. By mid-century, for example, one out five Americans is expected to be an immigrant - higher than ever before - with Hispanics accounting for 30 percent of the nation’s population.”
Not mentioned: no matter how many the U.S. immigrates, the world adds 77 million annually. Mexico expects to add 50 million. What immigrants fled in their own countries, i.e., food, water and energy shortages, they recreate in the USA.
Chamie said, “These projections raise the fundamental question of how much larger should America’s population be. Over the past several decades, the White House and Congress established various commissions to comprehensively address the future size of America’s population. In general, these high-level advisory bodies concluded that in the long run, no substantial benefits would result from the further growth of the nation’s population. And in particular, they recognized that America cannot grow indefinitely and recommended that the country welcome and plan for a gradual stabilization of its population.”
“Also, they concluded that there is hardly any problem confronting America whose solution would be easier with a larger population. Moving toward population stabilization would contribute significantly to America’s ability to solve its domestic problems as well as many of those abroad, especially energy and resource consumption, climate change and environmental sustainability. Moreover, without US leadership as demonstrated by domestic efforts to stabilize its population and thereby mitigate further damage to the environment, other nations would be reluctant to adopt policies and practices to stabilize their populations and work toward developmental and ecological sustainability.”
Thankfully, Chamie calls for U.S. population stabilization. That needs to happen sooner rather than later.
“Given the current economic and political climate, it seems doubtful that the US Congress will be able to address immigration reform any time soon,” Chamie said. “However, when they do begin debating US immigration policies, it would be wise to consider demographic realities, future population projections and likely environmental costs and not simply embrace the traditional pro-growth ethic that “more is better.” Congress and the Administration have an opportunity to address immigration reform in the broader context of America’s population. If they choose to do otherwise, expect another 100 million Americans to be joining us very soon.”
If we fail to stabilize U.S. population gracefully via immigration moratorium, the next added 100 million promises to cause water shortages we cannot solve, energy crises that grow irreversible and quality of life issues that degrade the American way of life. In the end, either we take action or Mother Nature will take action, brutally. She always bats last!

BLACK AMERICA DEVASTATED BY MASS IMMIGRATION
Part 1: Undermining Black employment

Each week, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, majority leaders of the U.S. House and Senate of the United States—shout grandiose proclamations about their efforts to make work, housing and education better for all Americans.
Unfortunately, for the past 20 years, both individuals failed Black America. Reid and Pelosi encouraged, without batting an eye, the slave labor invasion from Mexico. Both voted for insourcing, outsourcing and offshoring of jobs that displaced and undermined millions of Black Americans. Both watched Chinese manufacturing usurp American jobs in steel, auto and, welding and ancillary jobs attached to Detroit, former “Automobile Capitol of the World.”
Yes, Reid gave us Wal-Mart with 90 percent Chinese products that put the Chinese to work, but cut the throats of American workers. Every time you save money at Wal-Mart, you put thousands of U.S. workers in unemployment lines—that includes millions of Blacks.
As a college student in Michigan, I witnessed the Detroit riots in 1967 that burned much of the Black inner-city into cinders. The riots in Watts illustrated seething anger among Blacks. The U.S. Army drafted millions of poor blacks to fight in Lyndon Baines Johnson’s Vietnam War. Tens of thousands died without a clue as to why they departed this life so early. Dr. Martin Luther King tried to bring equality for people of color and stop ‘separate but equal’ drinking fountains and restaurants.
Johnson engineered the “Great Society” in order to give Blacks a chance at the American Dream. Schools upgraded, scholarships flourished, and even Louis Armstrong and Nat King Cole could eat and stay in the same hotel as whites. Top Black athletes commanded millions of dollars in sports and Black entertainers became millionaires like the Supremes, Richard Pryor and Sammy Davis, Jr.
With the power of the auto industry and manufacturing, Blacks entered—in greater numbers—the middle class of America through the 70s and 80s.
But in the 90s, something happened. Tyson Foods, Hormel, McDonald’s, Swift, Amour and dozens of companies found they could undermine and undercut wages of America’s working poor by adding unlawful immigrant workers. At first, a trickle, but soon, a deluge! Bush I winked. Clinton nodded. Bush II declared, “But they do the jobs that Americans won’t do!”
Today, Detroit suffers 76 percent dropout/flunkout rate from high schools according to NBC’s Brian Williams. Similar rates apply all over America. Jobs for Blacks dwindle as America’s manufacturing base, supported by Pelosi and Reid, offshores to other countries. Black teens cannot find a ‘fast food’ job to save their lives.
But unlawful Mexican workers can! Drugs and pregnant teen mothers explode. The Black prison population in America stands as a national disgrace.
While we blow up Iraq and Afghanistan, every day for the past eight years, at a current expenditure of $667 billion, our own citizens languish in hopelessness. A phenomenal 32.2 million Americans subsist on food stamps. Can anyone imagine what that kind of money would do for job training?
All the while, Reid and Pelosi support 20 million unlawful immigrants and unlawful workers in this country—at the expense of America’s Black citizens. Neither of those two ranking politicians represents the rule of law, but in fact, both continue to undermine Black America.
In a recent article, Roy Beck, “Moon Landing, Milton Berle, Soup Kitchens and Lost Dreams” 7/20/09, said, “Forty years ago this morning, I was visiting with Milton Berle in his hotel room near Grand Rapids, Michigan, sharing our reactions to watching the moon landing in the middle of the night. That evening, we met again over a giant bowl of potato salad at a backyard picnic as Congressman Gerald Ford dipped along with us and excitedly recounted his phone call from Nixon minutes after the moon walk.
“This is why kids aspire to be news reporters. You never know what you might be doing when something big happens. The moon landing inspired big dreams in lots of people. The year 1969 for my emerging generation was a time of big dreams about a world at peace, the end to racial conflict and disparities in America, and the beginning of a sustainable lifestyle. If we could put a man on the moon after only a decade of work, why couldn't we achieve these other goals?
“That was a summer when I donned riot gear to accompany police during a few nights of race riots. The northern ghettos of the Black underclass no longer were content with promises; they wanted full access to the middle-class economy.”
TODAY'S ABANDONED BLACK UNDERCLASS
“Waking up to NPR's report on the 40th anniversary this morning, I instantly felt myself back in that time, and thinking about what I thought the United States would be like by now,” Beck said. “It wasn't the U.S. that I know today. Once again this weekend, Shirley and I spent several hours at a soup kitchen, assisting 250 people in our community for whom the dreams of 1969 have not happened. As usual, most of the recipients of a meal, groceries and bus passes were Black Americans both recently and chronically out of the labor force. Nobody has been more devastated by federal policies of flooding the labor market with foreign workers than Black Americans. Their unemployment rates are through the roof.
“Visiting with them for hours Saturday, we couldn't conjure much hope at all that their lives had a chance of being transformed by a job. As I have said repeatedly for 20 years, there are many key ingredients to why the Black underclass has remained so large, but one of the most important has been congressional insistence at blocking their participation in the labor force by substituting foreign workers.”
IMMIGRATION GROWTH DEVOURING MILLIONS OF ACRES
“There are many reasons for this continuing rape of our nation's natural heritage, but the most important one is that federal immigration policies have mandated massive, unrelenting growth,” Beck said. “About 40 years ago, Nixon suggested at the time the country's population reached 200 million that we might do well not to add more.”
Beck added, “Anniversaries can be sad reminders of how badly we've screwed up. The Baby Boom generation with all of our high ideals has let environmental sustainability and racial egalitarianism slip from our grasp because as a whole we have never confronted the insistence of Big Business and Big Government for unrelenting immigration.”
Today, our Black President Obama, Pelosi and Reid propose, not only to grant amnesty to 20 million unlawful immigrants that will further decay Black American jobs, but the all voted to double legal immigration from 1.2 million to 2.4 million annually (June vote S. 1639, 2007).
Thus, Black America faces an uncertain future.

Each week, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, majority leaders of the U.S. House and Senate of the United States—shout grandiose proclamations about their efforts to make work, housing and education better for all Americans.
Unfortunately, for the past 20 years, both individuals failed Black America. Reid and Pelosi encouraged, without batting an eye, the slave labor invasion from Mexico. Both voted for insourcing, outsourcing and offshoring of jobs that displaced and undermined millions of Black Americans. Both watched Chinese manufacturing usurp American jobs in steel, auto and, welding and ancillary jobs attached to Detroit, former “Automobile Capitol of the World.”
Yes, Reid gave us Wal-Mart with 90 percent Chinese products that put the Chinese to work, but cut the throats of American workers. Every time you save money at Wal-Mart, you put thousands of U.S. workers in unemployment lines—that includes millions of Blacks.
As a college student in Michigan, I witnessed the Detroit riots in 1967 that burned much of the Black inner-city into cinders. The riots in Watts illustrated seething anger among Blacks. The U.S. Army drafted millions of poor blacks to fight in Lyndon Baines Johnson’s Vietnam War. Tens of thousands died without a clue as to why they departed this life so early. Dr. Martin Luther King tried to bring equality for people of color and stop ‘separate but equal’ drinking fountains and restaurants.
Johnson engineered the “Great Society” in order to give Blacks a chance at the American Dream. Schools upgraded, scholarships flourished, and even Louis Armstrong and Nat King Cole could eat and stay in the same hotel as whites. Top Black athletes commanded millions of dollars in sports and Black entertainers became millionaires like the Supremes, Richard Pryor and Sammy Davis, Jr.
With the power of the auto industry and manufacturing, Blacks entered—in greater numbers—the middle class of America through the 70s and 80s.
But in the 90s, something happened. Tyson Foods, Hormel, McDonald’s, Swift, Amour and dozens of companies found they could undermine and undercut wages of America’s working poor by adding unlawful immigrant workers. At first, a trickle, but soon, a deluge! Bush I winked. Clinton nodded. Bush II declared, “But they do the jobs that Americans won’t do!”
Today, Detroit suffers 76 percent dropout/flunkout rate from high schools according to NBC’s Brian Williams. Similar rates apply all over America. Jobs for Blacks dwindle as America’s manufacturing base, supported by Pelosi and Reid, offshores to other countries. Black teens cannot find a ‘fast food’ job to save their lives.
But unlawful Mexican workers can! Drugs and pregnant teen mothers explode. The Black prison population in America stands as a national disgrace.
While we blow up Iraq and Afghanistan, every day for the past eight years, at a current expenditure of $667 billion, our own citizens languish in hopelessness. A phenomenal 32.2 million Americans subsist on food stamps. Can anyone imagine what that kind of money would do for job training?
All the while, Reid and Pelosi support 20 million unlawful immigrants and unlawful workers in this country—at the expense of America’s Black citizens. Neither of those two ranking politicians represents the rule of law, but in fact, both continue to undermine Black America.
In a recent article, Roy Beck, “Moon Landing, Milton Berle, Soup Kitchens and Lost Dreams” 7/20/09, said, “Forty years ago this morning, I was visiting with Milton Berle in his hotel room near Grand Rapids, Michigan, sharing our reactions to watching the moon landing in the middle of the night. That evening, we met again over a giant bowl of potato salad at a backyard picnic as Congressman Gerald Ford dipped along with us and excitedly recounted his phone call from Nixon minutes after the moon walk.
“This is why kids aspire to be news reporters. You never know what you might be doing when something big happens. The moon landing inspired big dreams in lots of people. The year 1969 for my emerging generation was a time of big dreams about a world at peace, the end to racial conflict and disparities in America, and the beginning of a sustainable lifestyle. If we could put a man on the moon after only a decade of work, why couldn't we achieve these other goals?
“That was a summer when I donned riot gear to accompany police during a few nights of race riots. The northern ghettos of the Black underclass no longer were content with promises; they wanted full access to the middle-class economy.”
TODAY'S ABANDONED BLACK UNDERCLASS
“Waking up to NPR's report on the 40th anniversary this morning, I instantly felt myself back in that time, and thinking about what I thought the United States would be like by now,” Beck said. “It wasn't the U.S. that I know today. Once again this weekend, Shirley and I spent several hours at a soup kitchen, assisting 250 people in our community for whom the dreams of 1969 have not happened. As usual, most of the recipients of a meal, groceries and bus passes were Black Americans both recently and chronically out of the labor force. Nobody has been more devastated by federal policies of flooding the labor market with foreign workers than Black Americans. Their unemployment rates are through the roof.
“Visiting with them for hours Saturday, we couldn't conjure much hope at all that their lives had a chance of being transformed by a job. As I have said repeatedly for 20 years, there are many key ingredients to why the Black underclass has remained so large, but one of the most important has been congressional insistence at blocking their participation in the labor force by substituting foreign workers.”
IMMIGRATION GROWTH DEVOURING MILLIONS OF ACRES
“There are many reasons for this continuing rape of our nation's natural heritage, but the most important one is that federal immigration policies have mandated massive, unrelenting growth,” Beck said. “About 40 years ago, Nixon suggested at the time the country's population reached 200 million that we might do well not to add more.”
Beck added, “Anniversaries can be sad reminders of how badly we've screwed up. The Baby Boom generation with all of our high ideals has let environmental sustainability and racial egalitarianism slip from our grasp because as a whole we have never confronted the insistence of Big Business and Big Government for unrelenting immigration.”
Today, our Black President Obama, Pelosi and Reid propose, not only to grant amnesty to 20 million unlawful immigrants that will further decay Black American jobs, but the all voted to double legal immigration from 1.2 million to 2.4 million annually (June vote S. 1639, 2007).
Thus, Black America faces an uncertain future.
